Decluttering brings happiness… but not always!

Decluttering brings happiness

Not only am I a crazy book nerd, but I’m also an organization maniac. Researching new ways to make my rooms more streamlined and effective is one of my favorite pastimes. Weird, I know. But you won’t be suprised to hear that when Marie Kondo’s book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, came out, I was all over it. And to the surprise and despair of my fiancĂ©, I started decluttering the house top to bottom, going completely nuts! *N.B.: This is NOT an article about the KonMari Method* Gretchen Rubin has a saying that I particularly love : “Outer order brings inner calm.” Well to me, that is totally true. A tidy house makes me feel at home. A tidy office triggers my inner hustler. In fact, I am unable to work in a messy environment. Just can’t. Nothing makes me feel inner peace like the sight of a well organized bookshelf or drawer. It makes me feel happy. So I went through the KonMari decluttering system with much enthusiasm. The concept is simple, you take every item in […]

Structure Your Days With Time Blocking for Maximum Productivity

A few years ago, I was working in an office as an executive assistants. I had many roles to fill and tasks kept piling up. Most of my days were spent trying to keep afloat of my task load, but I never seemed to get anything concrete done. I was stuck in the busyness. That’s until I started blocking my time. I decided to draft a simple schedule on a piece of paper, making sure that the most important activities were put in there first. This way I made sure that busyness could not creep up on my priorities. And soon enough, I began to thrive and regain control over my task load. Time blocking had saved me from high waters. What is time blocking Time blocking is the act of assigning tasks to portions of your days. You “block” a time frame of your calendar to work on your most important projects, taking in account your energy levels and your priorities, while creating margin for what’s unexpected. Energy levels According to sleep researcher Nathaniel Kleitman, our body tends to […]

3 Leuchtturm notebooks

In today’s article, I wanted to share with you a few of my essential supplies for Bullet Journaling. I’ve been crazy about the stationery items I’ll be presenting and I’m so excited to share them with you! My favorite journals As many raving fans, I am a convert to the Leuchtturm1917 journals. My favorites are dot grid A5 with hard cover. They hold up well, come with an index and numbered pages as well as 2 ribbon bookmarks. They seem to be made for Bullet Journaling! I just cannot live without my trusted notebook of choice. I like to decorate my journals with vinyl stickers, as you can see on the picture at the top of the page. I create those stickers with my Silhouette Cameo machine, but you can also find nice ones on Etsy. My favorite pens Any Bullet Journalist is fond of great pens. My pen of choice is a Pilot Metropolitan, assorted with the color of my notebook as they come in such a great variety of colors, and Noodler’s Ink Heart Of Darkness, a very […]

Productive Happiness turns 1 – New orientation

Hello happy people! We’re taking some time off from our regular schedule this week to share the results of our latest reader’s survey. I have to say that I have been surprised by some of the results that came up and it brought me to reconsider the orientation that I’ll be following for the blog in the next year. Read on to see what my readers had to say! Demographics First off, I was interested in the demographics. Most of my readers are women between 25 and 54. Few men are reading the blog, and I guess with topics like the Bullet Journal being so popular amongst women, I shouldn’t be surprised by those numbers. 71% of my readers are employees. Preferences From the beginning, Productive Happiness had two main focus, productivity and personal development. My mission is to help you take your happiness in hands using the latest productivity techniques. I was very curious to know what type of content was most popular amongst my readers. This is the result that surprised me the most : Productivity is, by […]
