Quarter planning – 5 steps to achieve more goals

Back in 2015, I had the habit of setting goals in January, resolutions of sorts. That year, I set more than 40 goals and was very committed, in the first two months… When my drive gradually dissolved, I started to cross off items from my list. I started making excuses. At the end of the year, I had accomplished 15 of those 40+ goals. Not a bad result, but not even close. I realized that I had two problems in my planning method. First, I set too many goals to be able to work on all of them. Second, most of the goals I set in January were no longer relevant in April. This is when I learned about quarter planning. Shortly before I read Michael Hyatt’s book Living Forward, I heard him talk about quarter planning on his podcast, This is your life. I was very intrigued. How Gretchen Rubin became my virtual mentor

A few years ago, I began my quest for personal growth by reading The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. A world of new possibilities opened for me as I discovered self-help books. One day, I was perusing the library section of my favorite thrift store when I found a little blue book written by Gretchen Rubin. The Title, The Happiness Project, immediately grabbed my attention. I ran home with the book and started reading it right away. During the summer of 2014, I went to the beach with my in-laws. What I love most about the beach are the long hours without a thing to do, nothing else than read. I read most of The Happiness project during that week at the beach. It was the first memoir I’ve ever read, a literary style I did not know existed. I was blown away by Gretchen Rubin’s style. Self-love September, my story of self-love

When I was a teenager, self-love was not something I thought about very much. I don’t think I grasped the concept. I remember one day, being alone in my room and cutting myself on the breast to punish me for hurting a boy who was in love with me. I was not able to receive love, so I hurt the ones who offered it to me. I did not like myself very much. So I hurt myself. I think I started my self-love journey the day I asked for help at a local health clinic. Where I live, you are able to receive free psychological help and I went and asked for a counselor. At that time, I was drinking heavily and smoking weed to numb my angst. I was referred to a center for young addicts here in Montreal.  The first step to getting help was to stop using. Living Forward, a summary of life planning

Last year, I felt unsettled. One day, I came back from work with this feeling in my chest that my days were useless. I had the feeling that I was living my life without direction, just going through the motions of my everyday life, without a clear purpose. I would get up, rush through my morning routine, go to work, come back and read Facebook, then go to sleep. I was not achieving anything major during the day. I was drifting. At the same time, Michael Hyatt and Daniel Harkavy released a book called Living Forward – A proven plan to stop drifting and get the life you want. Needless to say, the book caught my attention. I am a huge fan of Michael Hyatt and I was convinced that his book would be very powerful and inspiring. I was not mistaken. What changed – 2 years of Miracle Morning

On July 31st, I celebrated an anniversary. I have been practicing the Miracle Morning for 2 years! Let me share with you the journey of my awesome awakening! Back in 2014, I just started working again after the Great Depression. I was going through the motions, work, eat, sleep, repeat. I would wake up at the last minute and rush out to work. I was feeling better, but there was still something missing in my life. I was lacking purpose. I always been an entrepreneur, and I was now working the 9 to 5 for a company that wasn’t mine. I was searching for my next business venture and listening to business podcasts to inspire me. The two that I was enjoying the most were Eventual Millionnaire and Entrepreneur on Fire. Raise your hand if happiness comes to you naturally. I see, there’s a few of you! Now raise your hand if life is tough and you’re struggling, and you feel like happiness is a distant ideal, something you can’t quite experience. I have good news for you. Happiness is a choice. You can make that choice, right here, right now, no matter your circumstances. The event that changed my life (and why I write this blog) 

A few years ago, my life changed dramatically. In fact, I believe I became a whole new person. It was the year 2010.   A year before the event that changed my life, I was an entrepreneur. I produced heavy metal concerts for a living. The financial crisis was in full bloom, and my shows were slowly deserted. After a while, I had to come to the conclusion that this business model was not profitable enough and I had to pull the plug. This decision was the hardest I ever had to take. And not for the reason you think.   To say that I was a workaholic was a bit of an understatement. At that time, I was working 80 hours a week, had been for the last 10 years of my life.
