Productive Happiness is back

Hey y’all! Productive Happiness is back! After 4 long months on a medical leave, I am fully rested and ready to get back to blogging! I missed writing so much, I realize that it is such an important part of my life and I am so glad I have this blog as a creative outlet to share my passion for personal development!

The last few months have been quite difficult for me, being sick at home unable to work on my projects, or do anything really… This led me to a lot of thinking and, as I reflected on my life, I decided to rethink my goals. I spent the last 4 weeks soul-searching to find out what direction I wanted to take from now on, so I decided to go on a silent retreat to figure things out.

Last week, I rented an Airbnb in a charming neighborhood here in Montreal with the only company of my notebooks, my trusted fountain pens and a few books. I was lucky to share my rental with a lovely female cat named Samy who proved to be very affectionate. Everything was set up for some deep thinking.

I started by doing a level 10 life exercise to assess my current levels of satisfaction in every area of my life. If you would like to try it out, I have created a template that you can access here. I have recently read the book The Desire Map by Danielle Laporte and decided to take advantage of my silent retreat to go through the workbook provided in second part of the book. The exercises are quite detailed and took me two full days to go through. It allowed me to figure out the type of feelings I would like to experience in my life and to realize that this blog is one of the key things I could do to feel the way I wanted to feel. So I decided right away to come back to the blog and start creating content that inspire me and hopefully would inspire you, my trusted readers. Here is the list of feelings that I’ve narrowed down after the exercise :

After I’ve determined the feelings I wanted to experience, I set out 3 goals for myself in different areas of my life. My goals are :

  • Expand the audience of Productive Happiness
  • Schedule time to craft and create each week
  • Learn to dissociate myself from the need for approval and stick to being unapologetically myself

I appreciated the process and the exercises, but I would say that I prefered Michael Hyatt’s method for life planning. I found that his life plan was much more precise and detailed than the one suggested in Danielle Laporte’s book. Now that I’ve gained clarity on the next steps I would like to take, I want to set a posting schedule and stick to it. Every Tuesday, you can expect a new article on the blog, and every Friday, I will send a newsletter with this week’s article, quotes I’m pondering and book recommendations on the subject of the week.
